The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has confirmed that federal government employees will mark the New Year holiday on Thursday, 1 January 2026, with work resuming remotely for most staff the following day.

In its announcement, the Authority said that Friday, 2 January 2026, will operate as a remote working day across federal entities. Employees whose roles require on-site presence will follow their respective operational needs and schedules.

The update provides government workers with clarity on the upcoming long weekend as departments begin planning early-year workflows and staffing requirements.

The Authority also extended congratulations to the UAE leadership, government, citizens, and residents, offering wishes for continued health and well-being as the nation prepares to welcome 2026.
