The UAE Gender Balance Council has held its first meeting under its newly approved formation, marking a fresh phase in efforts to advance gender equality and strengthen the nation’s global competitiveness.

The re-formation of the Council follows a UAE Cabinet resolution, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which broadened the Council’s mandate and scope of work. The move empowers the body to shape legislative and regulatory frameworks that support gender balance across both public and private sectors.

Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who continues as Chairperson, said the Council’s renewed structure aims to inspire transformative change and deliver sustainable impact. She highlighted that the UAE’s ambition extends beyond national progress to driving regional and global advancement rooted in inclusion, diversity, and equal participation.

The Council’s membership includes senior officials from key federal ministries and national institutions, bringing together expertise from finance, economy, foreign affairs, human resources, and social development. Vice President of the Council Mona Ghanem Al Marri chaired the meeting, which reviewed recent Cabinet directives, achievements over the past year, and priorities for the coming phase.

Members agreed on initiatives to reinforce the UAE’s standing in global indices by advancing institutional reforms, strengthening collaboration with federal entities and the private sector, and fostering policies that create an enabling environment for gender balance.

Council Secretary-General Mouza Al Suwaidi said the updated governance model would support evidence-based reporting and stronger global engagement, ensuring tangible results. The Council will also expand international partnerships, further consolidating the UAE’s role as a regional and global leader in gender balance.
