The Ministry of Finance (MoF) hosted a high-level briefing in Abu Dhabi to discuss the UAE's pivotal role in advancing Gulf financial and economic integration.

The event underscored the importance of regional collaboration in boosting economic ties and strengthening the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) common market.

The session, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, gathered senior officials from both the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the MoF, and other key figures. Attendees explored the progress of the Customs Union and the ongoing development of the GCC common market, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation among member states.

Key discussions focused on the strategic priorities of Gulf economic integration, with AlKhoori highlighting the UAE's commitment to facilitating the movement of capital, enhancing tax systems, and streamlining business operations across the region. He reiterated the Ministry of Finance's critical role in monitoring the implementation of GCC agreements and fostering financial stability.

Looking ahead to the UAE’s upcoming presidency of the GCC in 2026, officials outlined plans to launch initiatives aimed at reinforcing economic cooperation and ensuring the seamless integration of financial and economic systems across the Gulf.

This briefing is part of the MoF’s ongoing efforts to promote economic awareness and showcase the UAE’s leadership in shaping the future of Gulf financial cooperation. The initiatives discussed align with the country’s broader strategic goals of strengthening regional economic ties and enhancing the GCC’s unified economic framework.
