The UAE celebrated its first-ever ‘UAE Codes ScrumXperience’ as part of UAE Codes Day on October 29, bringing together Emirati talent to showcase innovation in artificial intelligence and Agile methodologies.

The event, organised by the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office in partnership with Emirates NBD, aimed to equip participants with skills to navigate rapid digital transformation.

Minister of State Omar Sultan Al Olama highlighted that UAE Codes Day reflects the country’s forward-looking vision, recognising coding as the language of the future and a key driver of national development. He emphasised that the collaboration with Emirates NBD demonstrates a practical model for fostering innovation in the banking sector and advancing the UAE’s digital economy objectives.

The full-day hackathon immersed participants in Agile, Scrum, and Vibe Coding simulations, challenging teams to solve customer-centric problems while promoting iterative collaboration and entrepreneurial thinking. Emirates NBD officials underscored the role of Agile in transforming operations, with Emiratis leading key initiatives including AI integration and Agile Maturity Assessments.

The winning project, the Tamkeen Platform, offers an AI-powered career coach using Claude AI to guide Emirati talent in discovering roles, training opportunities, and career pathways at the bank. Second place went to the Tahfeez Platform, which helps professionals track progress and connect across digital platforms, while third place was awarded to the Made in the Emirates Platform, designed to accelerate recruitment and personalised job matching.

UAE Codes Day, established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marks the launch of the region’s first e-government in 2001. In 2023, UNESCO recognised October 29 as the International Day of Coding, cementing the UAE’s position as a global leader in programming, technology, and talent development.
