The UAE Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Independent Evaluation Office of the New Development Bank (NDB), co-hosted a high-level technical workshop in Dubai, marking the first event of its kind in the region.
Centered on “Learning from global experiences on approaches and practices for sustainable development projects,” the workshop focused on evaluation, internal audit, compliance, and investigation practices, aiming to bolster sustainable development efforts.
The event brought together over 100 attendees, including government representatives, private sector leaders, and international entities such as UN Women, the UN World Food Programme, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Notable UAE attendees included Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, and other key Ministry officials. Diplomats from Russia, China, Bangladesh, and Algeria were also in attendance.
During his opening remarks, Younis Haji AlKhoori highlighted the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation, positioning the workshop as a platform for fostering partnerships among Global South nations.
“Investment in sustainable infrastructure is key to achieving comprehensive development,”
he emphasized.
Ashwani K. Muthoo, Director General of the NDB’s Independent Evaluation Office, reiterated the workshop's importance in enhancing capacity-building for sustainable infrastructure projects, underscoring the UAE’s role in supporting the bank’s sustainability agenda.
