The UAE will host the World Maritime Day Parallel Event 2025 from 30 September to 1 October, bringing global leaders and industry experts together in Dubai to address the future of maritime transport under the theme “Our Ocean – Our Obligation – Our Opportunity.”

Organised by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in cooperation with the International Maritime Organisation, the event will focus on sustainability, innovation, and international collaboration in the maritime sector. Discussions will centre on protecting the marine environment, adopting clean energy alternatives, and enhancing the efficiency of global trade.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said the UAE’s hosting of the event reaffirms its role as a global maritime hub and a preferred destination for technological advancement in the industry. He highlighted the country’s efforts to balance economic growth with environmental protection while supporting international decarbonisation goals.

Al Mazrouei noted that the UAE’s advanced ports, logistics services, and digital infrastructure have positioned it as a pivotal link in global supply chains. He added that the nation’s strategic location and regulatory framework have strengthened its reputation as a secure and attractive environment for investment and business.

Sustainability remains central to the UAE’s maritime policies, with initiatives such as the Green Recycling Yards project for eco-friendly ship recycling, green fuel infrastructure, and support for biofuels and green methanol. The country has also invested in digital solutions like the National Maritime Navigation Centre and the National Single Window for Maritime Services to boost operational efficiency.

The UAE continues to develop human capital through maritime academies that have already trained nearly 500 Emirati officers and engineers, including 100 women, reinforcing its long-term commitment to leadership in the global maritime industry.
