The Korean wave, featuring everything from K-pop music to hydrating skincare products and delectable snacks, has captivated the world. Whether you're planning to attend your favorite band's concert or explore the scenic beauty of South Korea's islands, traveling from the UAE to South Korea is now a straightforward process.

Travelers visiting South Korea for tourism must apply for the C-3-9 tourist visa, also known as the 'short-term tourist visa.' This visa can be issued for single entry (valid for three months), double entry (valid for six months), or multiple entry (valid for five years).

Here's a comprehensive guide on how UAE residents can apply for a South Korean tourist visa, including the required documents and the application process.

Required Documents

  1. Visa Application Form: Available on the South Korean visa portal (www.visa.go.kr). Fill out the form online, submit the necessary documents, and keep a hard copy.
  2. Original Passport and Copy: The passport must be valid for at least six months from the travel date.
  3. UAE Residence Visa Copy: This should also be valid for six months from the travel date. Applicants with a virtual visa stamp should have both soft and printed copies. Visa holders from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi must apply through the embassy in Abu Dhabi.
  4. Emirates ID and Copy: Provide both the original Emirates ID and a copy.
  5. Proof of Previous Residence: Nationals from specific countries (e.g., Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, etc.) must provide proof of residing in the UAE for the past two years through previous visas.
  6. Original Bank Statement: This must cover the last three months before applying and include a bank stamp. The statement should be issued within two weeks of traveling. If financially supported, include a letter of financial support, the sponsor's passport copy, and proof of relationship.
  7. No Objection Letter: This letter from the sponsor must state the purpose of the visit and include the applicant’s full name, passport number, nationality, position, and salary. It should also feature the authorized signatory's name, contact information, job title, and original stamp and signature. If not on a company's visa, include the sponsor’s passport copy.
  8. Detailed Schedule of Stay: An itinerary listing activities, dates, accommodations, and contact numbers.
  9. Two-Way Ticket: Proof of a booked return ticket.
  10. Hotel Booking Confirmation: Proof of accommodation in South Korea.

Application Process

  1. Submit the E-Visa Form: Complete the form online and book an appointment with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai via the '365 Overseas Korean Portal' (www.g4k.go.kr).
  2. Schedule an Appointment: Log in to the portal, click on 'reservation to the diplomatic mission,' and book an appointment based on availability.
  3. Processing Time: After the appointment, it usually takes up to 14 business days to process the visa. Applicants can check their visa status online. Once approved, the visa can be collected from the Korean embassy.

Fees

  • Single Entry Visa: Dh160 (less than 90 days), Dh240 (more than 90 days).
  • Double Entry Visa: Dh280.
  • Multiple Entry Visa: Dh360.

Fees may vary for certain nationalities, as specified on the consulate's website. Note that only cash payments are accepted.

By following these steps and preparing the necessary documents, UAE residents can smoothly obtain a tourist visa and enjoy their travel to South Korea.
