The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Khazna Data Centers, and Agility have launched a pilot program to deploy Phaidra’s AI technology, aiming to enhance energy efficiency across data centers and district cooling operations in the UAE.
The announcement was made during the World Governments Summit in Dubai, building on a previous agreement between the Ministry and Agility.
The collaboration stems from a Memorandum of Understanding signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which sets a framework for improving the performance and energy efficiency of digital infrastructure. The initiative reinforces the UAE’s position as a regional hub for AI and digital investment.
The pilot will test Phaidra’s AI agents, designed to optimize power, cooling, and workload management in AI-intensive data centers. The system focuses on maximizing tokens-per-watt efficiency, a key metric as AI workloads increase energy demands.
Khazna, already working with NVIDIA to develop AI infrastructure across the Middle East and Africa, will provide operational expertise for the deployment. The pilot will evaluate reductions in cooling energy consumption, increases in IT capacity, and improvements in infrastructure resilience, particularly in high-temperature environments.
Officials emphasize the broader sustainability and economic goals of the initiative. Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry, highlighted the partnership’s role in advancing reliable, energy-efficient AI infrastructure. Tarek Sultan, Agility’s Chairman, noted that AI control systems are critical for operating complex data center environments efficiently and sustainably.
Hassan Alnaqbi, Khazna CEO, said the project demonstrates the company’s commitment to scaling AI infrastructure responsibly, while Phaidra CEO Jim Gao described the partnership as a milestone in next-generation digital infrastructure for the MEA region.
The initiative aligns with the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the Ministry’s Energy Efficiency Strategy, paving the way for broader adoption of AI-driven optimization across the country.
