The UAE has climbed to 21st place in the World Happiness Index 2025, ranking above the UK, the US, Germany, France, Singapore, and all Arab countries. This improvement highlights the nation’s strong economy, high levels of social support, and robust infrastructure, which continue to enhance the well-being of its residents.

According to the World Happiness Report 2025, published by Gallup, the UAE ranks:

  • 16th globally for donating money, reflecting its culture of generosity.
  • 19th for volunteering time, reinforcing its commitment to social welfare.
  • 12th in the world for believing a stranger would return a lost wallet, showcasing strong societal trust.
  • 67th for helping a stranger, indicating an area for improvement.

A Strong Economy and Positive Social Outlook

Julie Ray, Managing Editor of World News at Gallup, noted that the UAE consistently ranks high due to its economic stability and giving culture, which are closely linked to happiness.

“Happiness isn’t just about wealth or growth — it’s about trust, connection, and knowing people have your back. This year’s report shows we underestimate how kind the world really is,”

said Jon Clifton, CEO of Gallup.

The UAE’s strong job market, economic growth, and high living standards have contributed to increased happiness levels, with 2025 declared the ‘Year of Community’ to further strengthen social bonds.

“Human happiness is driven by relationships,”

said Lara Aknin, professor of social psychology at Simon Fraser University.

“Engaging in benevolent actions and fostering social connections lead to greater happiness.”
