The UAE has taken a pioneering step in aviation safety with the approval of the "Protocol for Autopsy and Aviation Medicine in Air Accident Investigations."

The initiative, endorsed by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), aims to elevate the country's air accident investigation practices.

This protocol integrates forensic and aviation medicine expertise into accident investigations, allowing for a comprehensive analysis of flight crew health as a contributing factor. Combined with evaluations of the aircraft's condition, flight operations, and human factors, the approach ensures precise identification of accident causes and preventive measures.

Commenting on the protocol, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri stated,

"This development aligns with our leadership's directives to foster a safer and more sustainable aviation environment. It highlights the UAE's advanced status in aviation security and our commitment to innovative tools for accident prevention."

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, described the protocol as a "qualitative leap" in air accident investigations. Developed in collaboration with national entities, it promotes multidisciplinary cooperation and adherence to global aviation standards.

Captain Aysha Mohammed Al Hamil, Assistant Director-General in Air Accident Investigations, emphasized the protocol’s technical significance.

"By leveraging advanced forensic methods and national expertise, we aim to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of investigations,"

she said.

The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors, contributing to the long-term safety and sustainability of aviation. It also reinforces the UAE’s position as a global leader in aviation safety and innovation.
