In a major boost for tourists visiting the UAE, e& (formerly Etisalat) has launched a free instant eSIM with 10GB of complimentary data.
Visitors can activate the service as soon as they arrive, using a QR code that integrates facial recognition technology for a seamless experience.
According to e&, the eSIM, known as the "Free Visitor Line," can be self-activated immediately after passing through immigration, ensuring tourists can stay connected with loved ones and access important services right from the moment they land. The free data is valid for one day, eliminating the need for tourists to queue up for traditional SIM cards.
This move comes as the UAE continues to attract millions of international visitors. In 2023 alone, Dubai recorded over 17.15 million international arrivals, while Abu Dhabi welcomed 3.8 million overnight visitors.
Khaled ElKhouly, chief consumer officer at e&, highlighted the significance of this development, stating,
"The introduction of a self-activation feature for our Free Visitor Line eSIMs is an important milestone in our journey towards digital transformation. This exemplifies our commitment to innovation while reinforcing our dedication to providing exceptional convenience for our customers."
With this new initiative, e& sets a new standard for mobile connectivity in the UAE, enhancing the travel experience for millions of tourists.
