The UAE’s space sector is entering a new phase of expansion, powered by nearly AED44 billion in investments and a rising role for private companies, according to Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency.

The country’s strategic goal is to rank among the world’s top ten destinations for space-related companies by 2031.

During the Dubai Airshow 2025 press conference, Dr. Al Falasi said that private sector participation has become a core element of the UAE’s space ambitions.

“Many nations began with government-led initiatives but empowered private companies to take the lead, and we are following the same approach,”

he said.

While the government continues to provide support and infrastructure, private firms are increasingly driving innovation and contributing to national capabilities. Participation by Emirati small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at this year’s Dubai Airshow has doubled compared with previous editions, with their pavilion area expanding by over 60 percent.

Dr. Al Falasi also highlighted that the 2025 Airshow will host 15 heads of international space agencies, making it a key global platform for cooperation. The UAE Space Agency will hold a series of meetings to explore new partnerships and showcase the country’s growing private space sector.

Many Emirati companies are focusing on AI-based space applications such as urban planning, environmental monitoring, and data analytics, while others are advancing into satellite production and component manufacturing.

Dr. Al Falasi reaffirmed that the UAE’s long-term strategy aims to strengthen national industries and position the country as a leading global hub for space sciences and technologies.
