The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has consistently championed the global fight against terrorism, emphasizing the need for international collaboration to secure peace and humanity’s survival.
The UAE was one of the first countries to recognize and warn against the growing threat of terrorism, urging both regional and global cooperation to eliminate this global menace.
The UAE has played an instrumental role in various military operations and coalitions aimed at combating terrorism. Notably, the UAE was a key participant in the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen and Operation Decisive Storm, launched in March 2015. UAE Armed Forces helped thwart the Houthi militia's plans to control Yemen and disrupt regional security by controlling vital maritime routes such as the Gulf of Aden and Bab Al Mandeb Strait. In addition to confronting the Houthis, the UAE targeted Al Qaeda and Daesh in Yemen, liberating several areas from their control.
The UAE has also contributed significantly to humanitarian efforts in Yemen, establishing air and sea relief bridges to address famine, disease outbreaks, and infrastructure damage. Its focus on developmental programs has alleviated the suffering of vulnerable communities, even in Houthi-controlled regions.
On the international stage, the UAE was a founding member of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh in 2014, participating in critical military operations in Syria. The country has also launched initiatives like the Sawab Centre and the Muslim Council of Elders to foster peace, tolerance, and moderation, countering extremist ideologies. Through its active efforts, the UAE continues to play a crucial role in promoting global peace and security.
