The state visit of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Kuwait on Sunday, 10th November, marks a significant step in enhancing the long-standing and fraternal relations between the two nations.
This visit aims to strengthen their strategic partnership and open new avenues for cooperation in various sectors, including political, economic, and cultural fields.
The UAE and Kuwait have consistently demonstrated close ties through high-level dialogues and collaborative efforts. Notable visits, including that of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, to the UAE in March, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed’s visit to Kuwait in October, highlight their ongoing commitment to furthering bilateral cooperation.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1971, both countries have fostered strong ties through numerous agreements. The UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee, which has signed multiple memoranda of understanding, continues to drive cooperation in areas such as education, defense, culture, and cybersecurity.
Economic collaboration has flourished, with the non-oil trade exchange reaching US$12.198 billion in 2023, and investments flowing in both directions. The UAE remains Kuwait’s largest market for non-oil exports, while Kuwaiti investments in the UAE have also been substantial.
Tourism and cultural exchanges are thriving, with significant numbers of Kuwaiti tourists visiting the UAE and an increasing number of Emirati students studying in Kuwait. Both nations are also committed to promoting regional peace and stability, advocating for diplomatic solutions to conflicts and supporting global sustainability initiatives, such as those championed by Kuwait at COP28 in Dubai.
This visit signals a deepening of UAE-Kuwait relations, with both nations focused on a future of shared prosperity and strategic collaboration.
