The UAE Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (UAE C4IR), under the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), unveiled a pivotal report today aimed at guiding creative industries through the complexities of artificial intelligence (AI).

The report, titled Artificial Intelligence in Creative Industries: Guidelines for Development, Regulation and Use, was launched during the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils, a collaboration between the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the UAE Government.

This year’s meeting, which brought together around 500 experts from 80 countries across 30 councils, provided an ideal platform for discussing the report's findings. Key insights will be proposed as recommendations for the upcoming WEF Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2025.

At a subsequent press conference, panellists including Abdulaziz Al Jaziri, Deputy CEO at DFF, and Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture Authority, discussed the current state of AI in the creative realm. The report emphasizes transparency, inclusivity, and human-centrism, highlighting AI's potential to enhance, rather than replace, human creativity. Notable case studies demonstrate successful collaborations between artists and AI technologies.

“The synergy between human vision and AI capabilities offers immense potential,”

said Al Jaziri.

“To harness this, we need international guidelines to ensure responsible and unbiased AI-generated outcomes, while also protecting intellectual property rights.”

The report calls for a reassessment of how to maintain human agency in creative processes and addresses the ethical, legal, and social challenges posed by generative AI. With its robust infrastructure, Dubai aims to solidify its status as a global hub for creative industries and knowledge sharing.
