His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the signing of a landmark agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Siemens, marking the launch of an ambitious energy and water efficiency project targeting federal government buildings. The agreement, signed at the UAE Government’s Annual Meetings 2024, also saw the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
Under the agreement, Siemens will oversee the financing, installation, testing, and operation of advanced systems aimed at reducing energy and water consumption in federal buildings by 27% compared to the last three years. The signing was officiated by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens in the Middle East and UAE.
Commenting on the partnership, Al Mazrouei emphasized the UAE’s commitment to sustainable growth, stating,
“Our approach aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Through collaborations with the private sector, we enhance our progress in energy and infrastructure, supporting the UAE’s climate goals.”
Helmut von Struve shared Siemens’ commitment to the initiative, noting,
“We believe in the power of public-private partnerships to meet our shared vision. Siemens will deploy its latest technologies to ensure project success.”
The MoEI aims to strengthen its collaboration with private enterprises to achieve lasting reductions in energy and water consumption in high-use federal buildings, reflecting the UAE’s broader sustainability objectives.
