The UAE has officially launched the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance (GEEA), a bold new initiative aimed at doubling global energy efficiency rates by 2030.

The announcement was made by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, following the UAE Cabinet’s recent approval of the Alliance.

GEEA aligns with the landmark UAE Consensus from COP28 and is designed to transform global energy consumption patterns. It will do so by setting unified efficiency standards, enhancing international cooperation, and supporting developing nations with access to innovative solutions and funding.

“The launch of GEEA reflects the UAE’s unwavering commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global climate action,”

said Minister Al Mazrouei.

“Through this platform, we aim to share cutting-edge technologies and proven models, particularly with countries facing technological and financial barriers.”

The Alliance will serve as a central hub for exchanging knowledge and best practices in energy efficiency. It also aims to create unified tools for tracking progress, while offering technical support and capacity-building programs to member states.

Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, emphasized that energy efficiency is a critical lever for achieving the Paris Agreement and the UAE Consensus goals.

“By mobilizing international collaboration, GEEA will accelerate climate action and help build a sustainable future for all.”

The UAE will take a leading role in the Alliance, offering its public-private partnership models and energy know-how. Al Mazrouei invited nations and corporations worldwide to join the initiative, underlining that collective action is essential to driving meaningful change.
