The UAE has launched the "Global Energy Efficiency Alliance," an initiative led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to promote global collaboration in enhancing energy efficiency.
Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, shared this announcement during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
The initiative aims to foster the exchange of expertise, best practices, and successful projects worldwide to bolster energy efficiency.
"This alliance reflects the UAE's commitment to sustainability and global leadership in energy innovation,"
Al Olama said.
In parallel, the Ministry is conducting a study to issue green and sustainability certificates for government and commercial buildings. These certifications are expected to optimize energy and water consumption, further supporting the country's sustainability agenda.
Efforts are also underway to improve the energy efficiency of over 400 government buildings. A tender for this ambitious project will be launched soon. Additionally, a pilot initiative has been introduced in partnership with Aldar Properties, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and specialized energy solution firms to implement advanced efficiency solutions.
These steps underscore the UAE’s proactive approach to sustainability and its vision of creating a greener, more energy-efficient future.
