The UAE has unveiled a major initiative to equip its government workforce with advanced expertise in economic strategy and artificial intelligence, underscoring the leadership’s commitment to future-ready governance and sustainable national progress.
Announced by Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the initiative begins with two specialised master’s programmes in Economic Strategies and International Policy, and in Artificial Intelligence for the Government Sector. These will be delivered in collaboration with world-leading universities including Oxford, MIT, Georgetown, NYU, and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
Al Gergawi said the programmes reflect the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. He stressed that the fellowships are strategic investments in Emirati human capital, designed to empower government professionals to lead economic growth, digital transformation, and policy innovation.
The first phase will see 200 fellows selected from government entities across the country, equally divided between the two academic tracks. Graduates will be prepared to design forward-looking policies, manage digital transformation projects, and drive initiatives that enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness.
Universities were chosen based on the 2026 global rankings and their record in executive education and public sector innovation. Al Gergawi highlighted that the initiative aligns with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s long-term commitment to lifelong learning and positions the UAE at the forefront of knowledge-driven development.
By investing in future-critical fields such as economic strategy and artificial intelligence, the UAE aims to strengthen its role as a global leader in governance, innovation, and sustainable development.
