UAE Launches Pioneering AI-Driven ‘Synthetic Memories’ Project for Alzheimer’s Care
At Arab Health 2025, Emirates Health Services (EHS) and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI) announced a groundbreaking partnership to develop the ‘Synthetic Memories’ project, an innovative AI-driven initiative aimed at improving the lives of Alzheimer’s and memory-impaired patients.
The project leverages advanced generative AI to reconstruct fragmented memories, offering realistic visual and auditory recreations of past experiences. By merging AI with neuropsychological research, it aims to slow cognitive decline, enhance emotional well-being, and help patients reconnect with meaningful moments. The initiative is set to undergo clinical trials at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, evaluating its effectiveness within the UAE’s diverse cultural context while prioritizing patient safety, data privacy, and ethical AI practices.
Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, emphasized the UAE's commitment to ethical AI and its role in addressing global healthcare challenges.
“The Synthetic Memories project aligns with the UAE’s strategy of integrating AI across healthcare, education, and economic development,”
she said.
Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, highlighted the transformative potential of the project in reimagining elderly care, focusing on restoring emotional and psychological well-being through human-centered technological solutions.
The ‘Synthetic Memories’ initiative is one of 19 innovative projects showcased by EHS at Arab Health 2025, marking the UAE’s leadership in AI-driven public health innovation and its dedication to improving healthcare through compassionate, scalable solutions.
