The UAE has unveiled the second edition of the prestigious Great Arab Minds initiative, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.
Dubbed the ‘Arab Nobel Prize,’ the initiative seeks to honour Arabs who have made significant contributions to humanity.
With categories spanning medicine, engineering, technology, economics, natural sciences, architecture, literature, and arts, the initiative aims to reignite the Arab world’s leadership in scientific enquiry and innovation. Nominations for individuals and institutions close on 31 October 2024, and can be submitted through the official website.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Committee overseeing the initiative, emphasized the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in creating an enduring project that celebrates Arab talent and fosters a revival of the region’s historical role in advancing human knowledge. The initiative aims to inspire future generations by spotlighting Arab role models.
The programme offers a prize pool of AED6 million, with AED1 million awarded to each of the six category winners. With expert judging panels and a rigorous evaluation process, the second edition is expected to attract thousands of nominations from across the Arab world and beyond.
By fostering partnerships and innovation, the Great Arab Minds initiative continues to highlight Arab contributions to global civilization while encouraging the return of gifted Arabs to the region.
