Dr. Farah Al Zarooni, Assistant Under-Secretary for Standards and Regulations at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), unveiled a groundbreaking project to recycle used tyres into raw materials for new industries.
This initiative, announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, underscores the ministry’s commitment to promoting a circular economy and enhancing industrial efficiency.
Aligned with the "Operation 300bn" strategy, which aims to create an integrated and sustainable industrial ecosystem, the project highlights MoIAT's efforts to position the industrial sector as a pivotal driver of economic growth.
“We are developing innovative solutions through initiatives that support sustainability and economic development,”
Dr. Al Zarooni said.
In addition to the tyre recycling project, the ministry plans to introduce a technical framework for converting conventional vehicles into electric ones. This initiative is set to open new manufacturing opportunities and attract investments in emerging industrial sectors.
To further support the industrial sector, MoIAT collaborates with the Emirates Development Bank to provide competitive financing and ensures national products adhere to stringent quality and efficiency standards.
