The UAE has stepped up efforts to safeguard trade flows and strengthen regional supply chains, as senior government officials and global maritime leaders convened in Dubai to address mounting logistical challenges and ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, chaired a high-level coordination meeting hosted by the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation at its headquarters. The session brought together executives from major shipping lines, maritime associations, and key logistics stakeholders.

Reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to trade continuity, Al Zeyoudi highlighted ongoing collaboration with regional and international partners to enhance supply chain efficiency and resilience. He emphasised the importance of adaptive policies and innovative solutions to maintain the steady flow of essential and strategic commodities.

Officials outlined progress in strengthening alternative trade corridors, including increased utilisation of Fujairah and Khorfakkan ports, alongside efforts to boost regional maritime connectivity. These measures aim to mitigate disruptions while improving cargo movement efficiency.

Abdulla bin Damithan noted that coordinated initiatives across public and private sectors have already delivered tangible improvements, though rising costs and operational complexities remain ongoing concerns.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdulla Busenad detailed recent customs reforms, including enhanced green corridor operations with Oman, new cargo clearance mechanisms, and pilot programmes such as the Advance Cargo Information system.

The meeting also explored expanding secured trade corridors to Saudi Arabia and launching new maritime links with India, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a reliable global logistics hub.

Participants agreed that continued collaboration will be critical to navigating current challenges and building a more agile, future-ready trade ecosystem.
