The UAE Media Council has announced a remarkable achievement: facilitating the entry of nearly half a million titles into UAE markets in the first half of this year.

This notable influx highlights the ongoing growth of the publishing sector, supported by streamlined government processes and the Council's efficient digital services.

In this period, the Council issued over 46,000 trading permits in multiple languages and granted more than 1,570 printing permits for both local Arabic and foreign language publications, marking a 16 percent increase from the previous year. Additionally, 18 film scripts, 32 theatrical scripts, and 12 television series scripts were approved for production within the country.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized the Council’s dedication to enhancing a competitive media landscape and fostering creative production while adhering to relevant laws and policies. He highlighted that the UAE media industry is thriving due to modern technological advancements, flexible media policies, and efficient government services, which, combined with robust infrastructure, reinforce the UAE's global media position.

The Council’s achievements also include approving the screening of 339 films, representing a 7 percent increase from last year, with over 6 million total viewers. Furthermore, 73 electronic games were approved for circulation, and 670 media licenses were issued for various media formats, including radio, television, newspapers, and magazines. The Council also issued 230 licenses for social media content creators and conducted over 3,250 inspections of media establishments nationwide.
