The UAE Media Council has signed a landmark cooperation agreement with IMI, a global private sector media group, to nurture local talent and enhance the UAE's media infrastructure.

This initiative, part of the Media Apprenticeship Programme launched in May, aims to bolster the country's media sector and elevate its competitiveness on the global stage.

The agreement, signed at IMI's new headquarters in Abu Dhabi, was formalized by Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, and Rani Raad, CEO of IMI Group. It was attended by Maitha Majid Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Media Strategy and Policy Sector, alongside senior officials from both organizations.

Al Shehhi emphasized the importance of collaboration with private sector media entities to build national competencies and provide valuable media expertise.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to empowering the media sector by investing in national skills and equipping them with cutting-edge tools and technologies,”

he said. He highlighted the role of IMI’s global expertise in developing Emirati talent.

Rani Raad expressed pride in being the first global media group to partner with the UAE Media Council on such an initiative. Through the IMI Media Academy and their investments in top media brands like Sky News Arabia and The National, IMI will offer extensive training and career opportunities to aspiring Emirati media professionals.

This collaboration aligns with the UAE’s vision of building a world-class media sector, nurturing a new generation of Emirati talent capable of producing innovative content that promotes the nation’s positive image globally. The partnership aims to provide aspiring media professionals with unique opportunities to thrive in the industry.
