UAE Media Forum Highlights National Responsibility in Combatting Disinformation

The National Media Office (NMO) organized the "Media and National Responsibility Forum" to strengthen collaboration between UAE media entities and social media platforms.

The forum emphasized the need for responsible communication to protect the nation's interests and counteract disinformation, rumors, and suspicious campaigns.

Prominent attendees included Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the NMO, Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cyber Security Council, and Khalid Mubarak Al Madhani, Head of the Federal Prosecution for Combatting Rumors and Cybercrimes. In his keynote speech, Al Hamed stressed the commitment of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to maintaining the UAE's values, urging citizens to act as ambassadors of their country on social media.

Al Hamed introduced the "Block Without Comment" campaign, aimed at combating online trolls, which achieved a 95% reduction in offensive content. He emphasized the importance of ethical content creation, transparency, and accuracy in preserving the UAE’s reputation.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti highlighted cybersecurity awareness efforts, while Al Madhani called for adherence to media content regulations. Discussions at the forum centered on the role of media in safeguarding national identity and addressing digital challenges in today’s rapidly evolving landscape.
