The General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat (Awqaf UAE) has announced that UAE citizens interested in performing Haj in 2025 can begin registering starting Thursday, September 19.
The registration window will remain open until September 30.
Applicants can complete the registration process either via the Awqaf UAE smart app or through their official website. To qualify for registration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a UAE citizen
- Be at least 12 years old
- Not have performed Haj during the last five seasons
Priority for the pilgrimage will be given to individuals of determination embarking on the journey for the first time, those with incurable diseases, the elderly, and their relatives and companions.
For the upcoming Haj season, the UAE has been allocated a quota of 6,228 pilgrims by Saudi Arabian authorities. Awqaf UAE will collaborate with Saudi officials to issue Haj permits and 'Nusuk' cards, ensuring pilgrims receive comprehensive support including medical, legal, and logistical services. Regular evaluations of Haj campaigns and associated teams will be conducted to maintain high standards.
In preparation for the pilgrimage, Awqaf UAE will launch awareness initiatives in the coming months to guide pilgrims through the journey. Dedicated hotlines will also be established for the season to assist pilgrims with any queries.
This year, approximately 1.8 million individuals performed Haj, with 1.6 million coming from outside Saudi Arabia. Haj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a mandatory pilgrimage that Muslims must undertake at least once in their lifetime if financially and physically able.
Traditionally, Haj permits in the UAE are issued solely to Emirati citizens. Expatriates are required to adhere to the Haj procedures of their respective home countries. Pilgrims often travel through licensed tour operators, whose services cover visa costs, accommodations, transportation, and meals. A list of approved operators is available on the Awqaf UAE website.
