A new survey by the Gensler Research Institute reveals that nearly two-thirds (66%) of UAE employees work from co-working spaces, third spaces, or on-site at client offices, reflecting a rising trend, particularly in Dubai.
The Global Workplace Survey 2024 highlights that over 90% of employees in exceptional workplaces have the flexibility to choose where they work within the office, promoting higher engagement and a sense of value. Top-performing workplaces are often in amenity-rich neighborhoods, featuring diverse spaces like libraries, cafes, and outdoor areas.
Janet Pogue McLaurin, Gensler's global director of Workplace Research, emphasized the need to redesign workplaces to enhance productivity. The survey, which included over 16,000 full-time office workers from 15 countries, found that 17% of UAE employees work from home, while 49% are back in their offices. Despite this, 71% believe being in the workplace is crucial for maximizing productivity.
The UAE ranks third among the surveyed countries for exceptional workplaces, with 96% of employees in high-performing workplaces having control over their work time, compared to just over half in low-performing environments. Additionally, 97% of highly engaged employees are likely to stay with their company next year, compared to 53% of the least engaged.
