The UAE Government has partnered with Google to provide university students a free one-year subscription to the Pro plan of Google Gemini, giving them access to advanced generative AI tools designed to enhance learning, creativity, and research.
Announced today, the initiative supports the UAE’s National AI Strategy, which focuses on developing local talent and fostering innovation through emerging technologies. The programme aims to equip students with practical experience in artificial intelligence, enabling them to integrate AI into their academic and professional growth.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, said the move reflects the leadership’s vision to build a knowledge-driven society where technology empowers individuals and communities. He added that the UAE continues to invest in strategic partnerships that strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and digital transformation.
Anthony Nakache, Google’s Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted a sharp rise in AI-related learning interest in the UAE, noting a 110 percent increase in Google searches on AI and education topics compared to last year. He said the initiative aligns with growing enthusiasm among students and educators to explore modern tools that foster creativity in classrooms.
The Gemini Pro plan includes access to Gemini 2.5 Pro for complex tasks, Deep Research for advanced academic exploration, NotebookLM for organisation and ideation, and Veo 3 for generating short AI-powered videos. Eligible university students aged 18 and above can register before December 9, 2025, using their personal email to claim the complimentary 12-month subscription through the website.
