UAE Partners with Times Higher Education for In-Depth University Analysis
The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has partnered with Times Higher Education (THE) to assess and enhance the country’s higher education landscape.
This collaboration aims to strengthen the global competitiveness of UAE universities and align their academic and research outputs with national priorities.
Announced on Emirati Day for Education under the theme ‘Education By Everyone, For Everyone,’ the initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to transforming its education sector. THE will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of higher education institutions (HEIs), benchmarking their performance against global peers and identifying key areas for growth.
Dr. Hassan AlMheiri, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Higher Education and Scientific Research Regulation and Governance Sector, emphasized that a robust higher education system is essential for fostering a knowledge-based economy.
“Our partnership with THE will help assess strengths and areas for improvement across our HEIs, ensuring they produce world-class graduates who meet evolving societal and economic needs,”
he stated.
The project will unfold in five phases, beginning with Nationwide Engagement, where universities will receive training on ranking methodologies. This will be followed by Data Submission and Quality Assurance, Simulation and Rankings Production, Higher Education Landscape Analysis, and International Peer Benchmarking. Each phase will contribute to refining policies and strategies aimed at enhancing the UAE’s educational framework.

This initiative will equip universities with insights and strategies to enhance their global standing, ensuring their continued contribution to the nation’s development and innovation-driven future.
