In a significant collaboration to address Sudan's humanitarian crisis, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has committed $8 million to the World Health Organization (WHO).

This funding aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure, emergency response, and disease prevention in Sudan. It forms part of the UAE’s broader $70 million commitment to urgent humanitarian needs in Sudan, announced during the International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and Neighbouring Countries in April.

“The WHO’s work in Sudan is saving lives daily. It is essential to support this mission,”

stated Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE’s Assistant Minister for Political Affairs.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO’s Director-General, expressed gratitude for the UAE's support, emphasizing the importance of collective action to protect vulnerable populations.

This donation increases the UAE's aid to Sudan over the past decade to more than $3.5 billion, showcasing the UAE's ongoing commitment to global humanitarian relief and its longstanding partnership with WHO.
