Anyone encountering such scams is urged to report them to the police immediately.

The Abu Dhabi Police have warned residents about a scam targeting online sellers. Fraudsters posing as buyers send fake bank receipts to claim they have transferred money for items such as cars or bags, but no payment is actually made.

Col Muslim Muhammad Al Amari explained that scammers agree on transaction terms, then send a fake receipt stating the transfer will take several days and request the item. Sellers who fall for the scam hand over the item, only to realize later that no money was sent. Police advise sellers to confirm payment before releasing items and report any scams immediately.

In Abu Dhabi, scams can be reported via the toll-free hotline 8002626 (AMAN2626), SMS (2828), email (aman@adpolice.gov.ae), or the police's official app.
