The UAE is set to host the 7th International Rain Enhancement Forum (IREF), with preparations completed by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and the UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP).

The forum, taking place from Tuesday, 28th January, will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, and in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Alya Al Mazrouei, Director of UAEREP and NCM’s Research and Weather Enhancement Department, emphasized that the forum underscores the UAE’s commitment to innovation and global collaboration in addressing water security challenges. This event will further solidify the country's position as a hub for weather and rain enhancement sciences.

The three-day forum will bring together experts, policymakers, and researchers to explore cutting-edge topics such as AI and weather modification, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and the latest advancements in cloud seeding technologies. With global participation from speakers in the US, UK, India, China, and Russia, the forum will highlight the UAE’s role in pioneering research on water security.

The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of UAEREP and will honor key contributors to the program’s success. It will also launch the sixth award cycle for UAEREP, further encouraging innovation in rain enhancement.

Structured around five strategic pillars—Collaboration, Innovation, Capacity Building, Artificial Intelligence, and Applied Research—this year’s forum promises to showcase the UAE's leadership in the field, positioning it as a global center for advanced rain enhancement research.
