The United Arab Emirates reinforced its standing as a global humanitarian leader in 2025, ranking as the world’s third-largest aid donor after contributing $1.46 billion, according to data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Financial Tracking Service.
The UAE’s commitment was underscored by a $550 million pledge to support the United Nations Global Humanitarian Overview, which aims to mobilise $33 billion in 2026 to assist around 135 million people worldwide.
In Gaza, the UAE delivered more than AED9.4 billion in assistance by December, including over 100,000 tonnes of relief supplies and two million gallons of water. It also evacuated 3,000 patients and relatives for treatment in the UAE. Medical support included a field hospital that treated about 54,000 cases and a floating hospital in Al Arish that handled more than 21,000.
Support for Sudan reached $784 million since 2023, contributing to total UAE assistance of $4.24 billion between 2015 and 2025. In Yemen, the UAE committed $1 billion to energy projects, including renewable power plants serving more than one million homes, alongside food, education, and health initiatives.
The UAE also played a mediation role in Ukraine, facilitating the exchange of 4,641 prisoners, while providing development aid for orphanage care centres.
Emergency relief extended to Somalia, Chad, Albania, and Bangladesh, with specialised teams deployed across Asia and the Pacific. Beyond crisis response, the UAE invested in long-term healthcare and education projects in Uganda, East Jerusalem, and Chad, while supporting displaced communities through UNHCR programmes.
Domestically, major endowment and food security initiatives further highlighted the UAE’s integrated approach to humanitarian and social development.
