The Telecommunications & Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has announced remarkable achievements for the UAE in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2024, which highlights the pivotal role of governments in accelerating digital transformation and leveraging AI for sustainable development.
The UAE ranked first globally in the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII), scoring a perfect 100%. In the Human Capital Index (HCI), the country made a significant leap, advancing from 44th to 10th place globally and securing first place in Asia and the Arab world. This is a testament to the UAE's focus on enhancing national skills amid rapid technological advancements.
The UAE also ranked among the top countries in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), achieving a 95% score and climbing two positions since the 2022 assessment. Notably, the country earned a full score in the e-government literacy (EGL) index and the Online Service Index (OSI) for content provisioning and institutional framework standards.
Talal Belhoul Al Falasi, Chairman of TDRA, credited these successes to the UAE's visionary leadership and investment in technology.
“Today, we reap the rewards of decades of investment in telecommunications infrastructure and digital transformation,”
he remarked.
Eng. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director-General of TDRA, added that the UAE’s achievements serve as an inspiring model for global digital transformation, driving smart cities and digital economies.
The report also commended initiatives such as the UAE PASS, a digital national identity, and the AI-powered U-Ask platform for government services, emphasizing the UAE's commitment to digital governance and sustainable development.
