UAE Introduces New List of Fines and Violations Leading to Car Impoundment in Ras Al Khaimah
These guidelines have been posted on a government agency's social media account in an effort to notify drivers of any updates.
Ras Al Khaimah Police introduced updated regulations on March 6, 2024, aiming to inform motorists about changes in vehicle impoundment procedures. The authority shared the details on Instagram under the caption 'Executive Council Resolution No. (2) of 2024 concerning specific cases of vehicle seizure.'
The comprehensive list includes penalties and impoundment durations for various violations:
- Driving without a license: 30 days impoundment for the first offense, Dh3,000 penalty; repeated violation in the same year results in a 60-day impoundment and Dh6,000 penalty.
- Dangerous motorcycle or electric bike riding: 15 days impoundment, Dh2,000 penalty.
- Riding a regular bicycle dangerously: 15 days impoundment, Dh500 penalty.
- Loading water without a license: 30 days impoundment for the first offense, Dh1,000 penalty; repeated offense in the same year leads to a 60-day impoundment and Dh2,000 penalty.
- Riding a recreational bike in unauthorized areas or dangerously: 90-day vehicle seizure with Dh3,000 penalty.
- Participating in a procession: Penalties range from Dh1,000 to Dh10,000, or 15 to 120 days of vehicle impoundment.
- Racing on the road without prior police clearance: Dh10,000 penalty or 90 days of vehicle impoundment.
- Racing on the road without a license plate or with a fake one: 120 days vehicle impoundment, Dh20,000 penalty.
- Parading in sandy, coastal, or tourist areas that endangers lives: 120 days vehicle impoundment, Dh10,000 penalty.
- Posting or re-posting a vehicle committing a traffic violation: 60 days vehicle impoundment, Dh5,000 penalty.
- Counterfeiting number plates: 60-day impoundment, Dh5,000 penalty.
- Covering number plate: 30-days impoundment, Dh5,000 penalty.
- Placing reflective stickers on the vehicle or shading it while moving or standing: 30 days vehicle impoundment, Dh3,000 penalty.
- Modifying a vehicle to increase speed or noise: 60 days vehicle impoundment with Dh5,000 penalty.
- Intentionally hitting a police vehicle: 120 days vehicle impoundment, Dh10,000 penalty.
- Driving a vehicle in a way that damages the environment or in tourist areas: 30 days vehicle impoundment, Dh3,000 penalty; repeated offense results in a 60-day impoundment and Dh6,000 penalty.
- Parking a vehicle at construction sites without reason: 30-day impoundment for the first offense, Dh3,000 for vehicle retrieval; repeated offense leads to a 60-day impoundment and Dh6,000 penalty.
- Fines exceeding Dh10,000: 30 days impoundment, the owner must pay due fines to retrieve the vehicle.
- Cases determined by the Commander-in-Chief: Vehicle impoundment for up to 60 days with a penalty of no more than Dh5,000.
- Displaying vehicles for sale in other countries: 10 days of vehicle impoundment or Dh1,000 penalty for retrieval.
- Violating electronic cases determined by the Commander-in-Chief: Vehicle impoundment as per the earlier ruling or a penalty ranging from Dh100 to Dh5,000.
- Abandoned vehicles: 15 days impoundment, Dh1,000 penalty for retrieval.
