Abu Dhabi hosted the 15th IRENA Assembly today, where Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, underscored the nation’s unwavering dedication to accelerating the global energy transition.
Representing the host country, Dr. Al Dahak highlighted the UAE’s ambitious efforts to double its clean energy capacity as part of its Net Zero by 2050 Strategy.
Reaffirming the UAE Consensus launched at COP28, she called for tripling global renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030.
"The world is watching, and the time for action is now,"
she urged, emphasizing the need for collaboration, flexible projects, and private sector engagement.
In a press conference, Dr. Al Dahak detailed the UAE’s initiatives to support developing nations, spotlighting ALTÉRRA, the world’s largest private climate fund, and the Africa Green Investment Initiative, which drives renewable energy projects across Africa.
She further stressed the importance of youth in the renewable energy landscape during the IRENA Youth Fireside Chat. Encouraging young leaders to embrace the renewable energy sector, she shared insights from her career, advising decisiveness, collaboration, and a clear vision.
The UAE’s proactive investments, strategic partnerships, and emphasis on innovation reflect its leadership in building a sustainable, inclusive future, aligning with the bold targets of the UAE Consensus.
