The UAE Ministry of Defence has officially received the first batch of 80 Rafale fighter jets, marking a significant milestone in the country's military modernization efforts.
The delivery, part of a historic agreement with France’s Dassault Aviation, underscores the deep strategic ties between the UAE and France.
The jets were handed over in an official ceremony in Paris, attended by Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, alongside senior UAE and French military officials. Al Mazrouei emphasized that, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Armed Forces have evolved into one of the most capable military entities in the region.
"Our strategy focuses on acquiring advanced weaponry and systems to enhance combat efficiency and align with the evolving nature of modern warfare,"
Al Mazrouei stated.
Major General Rashed Mohammed Al Shamsi, Commander of the UAE Air Force, highlighted the Rafale’s proven combat capabilities, stating that the acquisition will enhance the country's air force and air defence systems. The agreement includes a comprehensive training programme to ensure high readiness among pilots and technicians.
Equipped with cutting-edge technologies, the Rafale jets can execute multiple missions, including reconnaissance and precision strikes on land and sea targets. The €16.6 billion deal marks one of the most significant defence agreements between the UAE and France, further strengthening bilateral military cooperation.
