Delays can lead to penalties up to Dh20,000; exemptions available for eligible individuals.

Residents in the UAE are being urged to prioritize the registration and renewal of their Emirates ID cards, as delays beyond 30 days from the expiration date can result in daily fines of Dh20. The Emirates ID is not only mandatory for all citizens and expatriates in the country but is also crucial for accessing various services.

According to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), there are a total of 14 violations associated with Emirates ID and UAE visa services. Depending on the nature of the violation, fines can range from Dh20 per day to a staggering Dh20,000.

Key Violations and Their Associated Fines

Among the violations, six pertain specifically to residency and foreign affairs services, each incurring a Dh500 fine.

These include:

  • Submitting transactions not belonging to the company by a company representative.
  • Entering incorrect data via the e-dirham system.
  • Expiration of the company representative's card.
  • Not carrying the required card during transaction submissions.
  • Violations of the service center work system.
  • Non-compliance with pledges made to the ICP.

Additionally, three significant violations carry a fine of Dh5,000, including:

  • Misuse of the system.
  • Obstructing ICP employees.
  • Failure to pay necessary fees for ICP services.

Consequences of Delayed Emirates ID Renewal

Failure to register or renew the Emirates ID within the stipulated timeframe can lead to fines accumulating at Dh20 per day, potentially reaching a maximum of Dh1,000. The fine for inaccuracies in submitted requests is Dh100, while providing false information can incur a penalty of Dh3,000. Furthermore, issuing visas or permits for non-existent companies can lead to fines of Dh20,000.

In the unfortunate event of a lost or damaged Emirates ID, residents must apply for a replacement, incurring a fee of Dh300, along with additional application fees depending on the submission method.

Exemption from Late Renewal Fines

Fortunately, there are avenues for residents to request exemptions from late renewal fines under certain conditions.

These include:

  • Individuals who have spent over three months outside the country.
  • Those deported by an administrative decision or judicial ruling.
  • Residents who have not received an identity card prior to obtaining nationality.
  • Bed-ridden individuals or those with disabilities, supported by a medical certificate.
  • Diplomatic staff and their dependents.
  • Elderly individuals (70 years and older) unable to visit customer happiness centers.
  • Emiratis under the social security system, needing to prove their financial status.

In cases where delays are due to computer errors, individuals may also have their fines waived.
