UAE retailers slash costs ahead of Ramadan, offer discounts up to 80%
Promising to help you save money during Ramadan shopping, discounts have been added to everyday items like groceries, fresh food, kitchen tools, electronics, and more.
According to the Hijri calendar released by the Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Ramadan is predicted to start on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Apart from e-commerce giants like Amazon and Noon, hypermarkets are also offering special discounts and deals both online and in their physical stores.
Carrefour, owned by Majid Al Futtaim, has launched the 'Prices Lower Than Last Year' Ramadan campaign. They've reduced prices by up to 50% on 5,000 items, including everyday essentials, fresh food, kitchen appliances, electronics, and more. They've also fixed the prices of 100 essential items such as rice, milk, and oil, and have allocated Dh50 million to ensure these products remain affordable for shoppers. Carrefour claims that some core essentials will be priced even lower than last year, with items like oil and milk available at the market's lowest prices.
Bertrand Loumaye, the country manager UAE at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, emphasized their commitment to providing customers with access to healthy and nutritious food at affordable prices during Ramadan. They've also planned various charitable initiatives to embody the spirit of giving during this holy month.
Additionally, Carrefour's private label will offer over 2,200 products, with 60% of them produced locally in the UAE.
Bejoy Thomas, the director for FMCG at Safeer, stated that they have launched special offers on more than 600 products, with over 50% discounts, to fulfill every household need. Despite challenges in the supply chain due to regional geopolitical issues like the Red Sea blockade, Safeer has taken necessary precautions to ensure product availability.
Lulu Group, another hypermarket operator, has also introduced Ramadan savings of up to 70% on various essentials, including poultry, fresh and frozen food, cooking oil, rice, pulses, spices, dairy products, and cooking utensils.
In addition to private retailers, government-backed cooperatives have joined the campaign, slashing prices of thousands of products by up to 75%.
Dubai-based Union Coop has slashed prices on 4,000 items by 50% to 75% for the holy month of Ramadan. Additionally, they've locked prices on 2,000 products and offer extra discounts for Tamayaz cardholders. Shoppers in Dubai have the chance to win 14 new cars through raffle draws during the campaign.
Sharjah Cooperative Society has dedicated Dh35 million to reduce prices on nearly 10,000 items, with 80% of them being essential food products. They've lowered prices by up to 75% on key grocery items like cooking oil, flour, and rice. The campaign includes exciting giveaways such as two Suzuki Dzire cars each week, 30 furniture gift cards valued at Dh5,000 each, and 32 shopping gift cards worth Dh1,000 for shoppers spending Dh300 or more.
Amazon, the e-commerce giant, is also offering discounts of up to 70% on thousands of deals across various product categories, including Amazon Fresh, home, kitchen, beauty, fashion, and electronics. Customers can shop from top local, regional, and international brands like Tilda Basmati Rice, Nespresso, Black+Decker, and Nutrichef. Additionally, shoppers can explore Ramadan Sale deals on international items from Amazon US and Amazon UK through the Amazon Global Store on Amazon.ae, with free delivery options available.

Shoppers can enjoy discounts of up to 70% on various items, including fresh fruits and vegetables, cooking essentials, digital air fryers, coffee machines, gas cookers, tablets, laptops, and TVs.
Noon.com has also joined in the Ramadan spirit, offering discounts of up to 70% on a wide range of products, including food, electronics, and more.
