The UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have been recognized as “Innovation Futurists” in a new global health study by Roland Berger, positioning them among the world’s most forward-thinking nations in shaping the future of healthcare.

The study, Future of Health 7: The Healthcare Systems of the Future, surveyed more than 5,200 respondents across 25 countries to understand citizens’ expectations of their health systems. Findings revealed that both globally and across the GCC, healthcare remains the top priority for government and individual spending.

A striking 75% of respondents worldwide, including those in the three GCC countries, favored preventive healthcare over reactive treatment. Likewise, 70% supported lifestyle-focused interventions rather than purely medical solutions—signaling a global shift toward wellness and prevention.

Equity also emerged as a key theme, with participants emphasizing the need for equal access to healthcare regardless of financial background. To manage rising costs, respondents across all regions pointed to reducing inefficiencies as the most effective approach.

Sara Barada, Healthcare Leader at Roland Berger Middle East, said the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar stand out for their strong commitment to innovation.

“Countries in the region have the opportunity to use innovation as a key lever to build high-performing, high-value health systems that excel in equity, outcomes, and sustainability,”

she noted.

The report highlights how GCC nations are aligning with global health priorities while leveraging innovation to redefine the region’s healthcare landscape.
