UAE Set to Compete in 9th Asian Winter Games in China

The UAE National Olympic Committee has officially announced the country’s participation in the upcoming 9th Asian Winter Games, which will be held in Harbin, China, from February 7th to 14th.

The prestigious event will feature over 1,500 athletes from 34 Asian Olympic committees, competing across various winter sports disciplines.

This marks the UAE’s third appearance in the history of the Asian Winter Games and its most significant participation to date, with a diverse representation across multiple sporting disciplines. The UAE made its debut in the event in 2011 at the Almaty and Astana Games in Kazakhstan, where it competed in ice hockey. The country returned for the 2017 edition in Sapporo, Japan, expanding its participation to include both ice hockey and figure skating.

For the 2025 edition, the UAE will be represented by a team of seven athletes – six males and one female. The athletes will compete in three challenging disciplines: alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. This expanded representation highlights the growing interest and investment in winter sports in the UAE, marking a significant milestone in the nation's sports development on the global stage.

As the UAE continues to make strides in international winter sports, the participation in the Asian Winter Games reinforces the country's commitment to broadening its athletic achievements and enhancing its visibility in global sporting events.
