UAE Showcases 'Hayat' Organ Donation Programme at Arab Health 2025
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in partnership with health authorities across the UAE, highlighted the achievements of the National Programme for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation, "Hayat," at Arab Health 2025, the Middle East's premier healthcare event.
The exhibition, held from January 27 to 30 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, featured the programme on the unified "Emirates Health" platform.
Launched to foster a culture of organ donation, the Hayat programme streamlines national efforts to support patients with organ failure, enhancing quality of life and reducing family burdens. As part of the UAE's ambition to build a world-class healthcare system under the "We the UAE 2031" vision, Hayat has made impressive strides. In 2024, the UAE saw a 22% increase in organ transplants, with 352 organs transplanted, positioning the country as a leader in the region for organ donation.
Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Regulation, emphasized the importance of Arab Health in raising awareness about the programme, noting that 338 patients received life-saving transplants in 2024. The successful transplantation of 187 kidneys, 100 livers, 39 lungs, 21 hearts, and 3 pancreases exemplifies the programme's impact on the community.
The UAE’s commitment to medical excellence and humanitarian values has made Hayat a global model, with a 41.7% growth rate in the past five years. The programme continues to attract increasing numbers of registrants, now reaching 31,145 individuals, thanks to collaborative efforts and advanced digital systems ensuring transparency and efficiency.
