UAE Signs Agreement to Empower Emirati Women in Private Sector Leadership
During the annual UAE government meetings in Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Minister of the Presidential Court, witnessed a key agreement between the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC) and the UAE Gender Balance Council (UAE GBC).
The agreement, signed by Ghannam Butti Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of ETCC, and Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of UAE GBC, aims to boost Emirati women's leadership and participation in the private sector.
Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, praised the partnership, aligning it with the UAE’s national vision to enhance women’s leadership. She emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in driving economic growth and commended ETCC’s progress in integrating Emirati talent into various industries.
The agreement is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to promote gender balance, with initiatives like the “Pledge to Accelerate Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals,” aiming to increase women’s representation in senior management to 30% by 2025. This commitment has already seen significant participation from private sector entities.
Ghannam Butti Al Mazrouei underlined the importance of the collaboration in advancing Emiratisation and women’s leadership. He also highlighted that the initiative is the first of its kind globally and would promote gender diversity and celebrate the achievements of women in the workforce.
The agreement will support leadership pathways for Emirati women through initiatives such as the “Nafis Award,” which recognizes companies excelling in gender balance. This partnership also paves the way for data-driven strategies to further elevate Emirati women’s roles in the private sector, fostering sustainable economic development.
