The UAE has signed three strategic cooperation agreements aimed at fostering sustainable development in Asia and Africa.

These agreements align with the nation’s humanitarian mission to enhance societies' well-being and address pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

Two of the agreements were signed in the presence of Louise Araneta, First Lady of the Philippines, and Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

The first agreement, signed with the Republic of the Philippines, focuses on revitalizing the Pasig River in Manila. Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, the Philippines' Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, and Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the Clean Rivers Foundation, formalized the partnership. Al Dahak emphasized the UAE’s commitment to environmental protection, circular economy solutions, and climate action.

The second agreement establishes a strategic partnership between the Clean Rivers Foundation and the "Borealis and Systemiq" initiative to improve waste management infrastructure in Indonesia. The initiative aims to develop recycling programs, reduce plastic pollution, and enhance community engagement. The agreement was signed by Deborah Bacchus, CEO of Clean Rivers Foundation, and Benjamin Dixon, Partner at Systemiq and Borealis.

Al Qubaisi expressed optimism that this project would serve as a model for sustainable waste management.

The third agreement, between the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, aims to empower 1,000 African entrepreneurs through financial support and training. Signed in the presence of Alia bint Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, the initiative seeks to drive economic growth across the continent.

Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of the Khalifa Foundation, reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Africa, following the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The agreement underscores the UAE’s role in promoting global socio-economic sustainability.
