TRENDS Research and Advisory has partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) to enhance the UAE’s food security and advance sustainable development goals.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during Abu Dhabi Global Food Security Week, held at the ADNEC Centre until November 28, in the presence of Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
The agreement was signed by Mohammed Saeed Al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary of MOCCAE, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory. The partnership will focus on conducting nationwide surveys and field studies over the next three to four months to address challenges in agriculture and food production.
Al-Nuaimi emphasized the significance of the MoU, stating,
“Through partnerships with TRENDS and other stakeholders, we will be better equipped to achieve the National Food Security Strategy 2051 and ensure a secure food future for the UAE.”
He highlighted the role of advanced technologies and data in creating sustainable food systems and increasing local production of strategic crops.
Dr. Al-Ali underscored the importance of gathering accurate data to understand the state of food security and consumer behavior. The surveys will explore consumer habits and preferences, particularly regarding sustainability and healthy nutrition, shaping future policies that align with local needs and sustainable development goals.
This collaboration underscores the UAE’s commitment to tackling food security challenges and ensuring a sustainable agricultural framework.
