The UAE has cemented its status as a top global aviation hub in 2024, driven by advancements in infrastructure, clean energy initiatives, and capacity expansion at major airports.

National carriers surpassed pre-pandemic levels, achieving an 87.1 million-seat capacity—a 10.5% increase from 2023 and 15% growth over 2019, according to OAG.

The UAE's aviation sector, a key economic pillar, has demonstrated exceptional growth, with passenger traffic expected to hit 150 million by year-end, up from 134 million in 2023. The UAE’s civil aviation network now serves over 400,000 passengers daily and processes more than 10,000 tonnes of cargo.

Strategic milestones included the launch of a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, poised to become the world's largest airport with a 260-million-passenger capacity. Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport was inaugurated this year, earning accolades like "World’s Most Beautiful Airport" and recognition as the "World’s Leading Airport Operator."

Dubai International Airport maintained global dominance in international flight capacity throughout 2024, surpassing Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport twice in combined rankings. Emirates Airlines excelled globally, winning multiple awards, including at the 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards. Etihad Airlines received accolades for its Economy Class and in-flight entertainment.

The UAE also advanced sustainability efforts, with Dubai Airports launching the world’s largest airport rooftop solar installation, covering 6.5% of Dubai International Airport's energy needs. The UAE’s modern fleets, averaging 12–15 years in age, further support reduced carbon footprints.

With a visionary approach and a commitment to innovation, the UAE continues to soar as a leader in global aviation.
