The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Cyprus have reaffirmed their deep strategic partnership and shared commitment to advancing regional stability, cooperation, and sustainable development during high-level meetings in Nicosia.

Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State, met with Cyprus’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Constantinos Kombos and Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across humanitarian, economic, and multilateral fields. Nusseibeh also met with President Nikos Christodoulides, conveying warm regards from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Both sides reviewed key areas of collaboration in light of Cyprus’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026. They agreed to deepen consultations on regional priorities that promote dialogue, coexistence, and humanitarian diplomacy, reflecting their shared vision for a peaceful and interconnected Mediterranean-Gulf region.

The discussions reaffirmed the UAE-Cyprus Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established in 2022, as a framework for cooperation in defence, energy, trade, tourism, education, and maritime transport. The next phase will focus on joint projects in clean energy, digital transformation, and maritime connectivity.

During a visit to the Port of Limassol, both sides commended the Amalthea Cyprus Maritime Corridor as a vital humanitarian lifeline for Gaza and pledged to expand its operations under UN coordination.

The Ministers also exchanged views on developments in Sudan and Ukraine, reiterating their support for peace, protection of civilians, and respect for international law. They welcomed the efforts of the Quad and the EU to facilitate humanitarian access and promote inclusive political solutions.

Both nations underscored that the UAE-Cyprus partnership stands as a model of constructive regional diplomacy built on shared values and mutual respect.
