UAE Sustains Vitality Score of 72.5 Amid Increasing Challenges, Study Reveals

The UAE has achieved a commendable vitality score of 72.5, according to the latest Cigna International Health Study, unveiled by Leah Cotterill, CEO of Cigna Healthcare MEA.

While the score reflects a positive trend in overall health, the report raises alarms about increasing concerns related to mental well-being, social connectivity, and financial health, necessitating urgent attention from employers.

The definition of health and well-being has evolved significantly, now encompassing mental, social, and financial dimensions. This shift underscores the critical importance of work-life balance, emotional health, and financial security. Cigna’s annual survey, which gathered responses from over 10,000 participants across 11 global markets, analyzed data across eight key factors: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual.

The UAE's commitment to holistic health and a supportive environment has contributed to its sustained vitality score for the second consecutive year. The study highlighted issues such as stress levels, work-life balance challenges, and the financial pressures affecting employees, providing a comprehensive view of the region’s health landscape.

Cotterill stated,

“As mental and financial pressures escalate globally, the UAE is dedicated to prioritizing well-being through initiatives like the National Strategy for Well-being 2031, focusing on mental health, community cohesion, and financial stability.”

She emphasized that Cigna Healthcare aligns with this vision, delivering innovative health solutions that address the full spectrum of well-being.

The findings were discussed at a launch event hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Dubai, where industry leaders, policymakers, and healthcare experts explored actionable strategies for enhancing workforce well-being in the UAE.
