In line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Aid Agency and the Government of Chad have signed a landmark agreement to establish the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Hospital and a dialysis centre in N’Djamena.
The agreement, signed in the presence of key UAE dignitaries including H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, marks a major step in the UAE’s ongoing commitment to global healthcare development. The hospital will span 9,500 square meters, with an additional 1,800 square meters allocated for staff housing. The dialysis centre will occupy 4,200 square meters and feature the latest medical technology.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, and Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Chad’s Minister of Finance and Budget, formalised the agreement. The facility will house 11 specialised clinics, 100 beds, three operating theatres, and a dialysis centre with 80 beds, serving over 1.7 million people in N’Djamena.
Sheikh Shakhboot highlighted the project as a continuation of the UAE’s humanitarian legacy and a reflection of President Sheikh Mohamed’s vision to strengthen global healthcare, especially in Africa. Dr. Al Ameri added that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s strategy of sustainable development and international cooperation under the supervision of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Chad’s finance minister expressed gratitude, noting the hospital’s role in enhancing healthcare, job creation, and broader economic growth in the capital.
